Implant Dentistry
Dental Implants are small prosthetic posts that are placed into the bone of the upper or lower jaw. They will act as replacements for the root portion of lost natural teeth. They also serve as an anchor for replacement teeth. They look and feel 100% like natural teeth - majority of people can't tell the difference between implants and natural teeth. They are available for people, of any age, who have missing teeth, or who are at risk of losing teeth. The benefit of implants is that you get your smile back, and for some, confidence. You will be able to eat comfortably and clean just as you would with natural teeth.

Dentures / Partials
Dentures have come a long way with new technology. They aren't the same as your grandmothers dentures. New materials can be custom blended to your own skin, hair and even eye color to look as if you were naturally born with perfect teeth. As people age, dentures can cause people to look older than they really are, as well as cause pain when chewing. But with our modern-day technology, we can replace worn out dentures with state-of-the-art new ones that fit you personally. They will look as natural as possible.

Bonding / Restorations
Bonding is done to a person who wants the gaps filled between their teeth, or to chance the color of their teeth.

Bonding is a process where an enamel-like material is applied to a tooth's surface. It is then sculpted to an ideal shape for the individual, hardened and then polished for an ideal smile. This entire procedure is generally done in one office visit, and the results will last several years.

Bonding is more susceptible to chipping or staining than other forms of restoration such as veneers. When teeth are chipped or decayed, bonding composite resins may be the material of choice.

Extractions
A tooth may need to be extracted when other procedures such as root canal therapy, crowns or fillings fail.

The procedure of extracting a tooth is far less painful than it was in the past thanks to anesthetics and sedatives. Most patients feel little or no pain whatsoever, with minor bleeding.

Before a tooth is extracted, or removed, the surrounding area of the tooth is numbed with a topical or injectable anesthetic, such as novocaine.

After the procedure is completed, patients sometimes need to take an antibiotic, and take precautions following the procedure to ensure tha infection does not occur. It is also a good idea to use ice packs applied to the outside cheek near the extraction area, to reduce swelling and promote faster healing.

Wisdom Teeth Removal
Wisdom teeth are the third and final set of molars that erupt in the back corners of a normal adult mouth, upper and lower. Most people opt to have their wisdom teeth removed because they can erupt too close to existing permanent teeth, causing crowing, improper bites and pain.

If wisdom teeth are causing problems and are not pulled, they can someitmes become impacted, which is extremely painful, as well as harmful to your oral health. Some symptoms to spot this is severe discomfort, inflammation and some kinds of infections.

Wisdom teeth removal is to avoid serious future oral problems.er healing.

Root Canal Therapy
Root canals are small passageways that branch off from beneath the top of the tooth, coursing their way vertically downward until they reach the tip of the root. Each tooth in a healthy adult mouth has between one and four root canals.

Many tooth problems involve infection that spread to the inner champber of the tooth, which contain blood vessels, nerves and other tissues. When infection becomes worse, it can affect the roots.

A diseased inner tooth brings a lot of problems including pain and sensitivity, as well as a spreading infection inside, that cause pockets of pus, leading to abscess.

Root canal therapy is a treatment with a high success rate. It deals with removing the diseased tissue, halting the spread of infection and restoring the healthy portion of the tooth.

Crowns and Bridges
Bridges are natural looking dental appliances that can replace a sectino of missing teeth. They are barely noticable because they are custom made to each indivudual, and can restore the natural contour of teeth as well as the proper bite from upper to lower teeth.

Bridges are sometimes reffered to as fixed partial dentures, because they are semi-permanent and are bonded to existing teeth or implants. Some bridges are removable and can be cleaned, others need to be removed by a dentist.

Porcelain, gold alloys or combinations of materials are usually used to make bridge appliances.

Crowns are used to restore a tooth's function and appearance following a restorative procedure, such as a root canal. They are synthetic caps, usually made of porcelain, placed on the top of a tooth.

When decay in a tooth has become so advanced that large portions of the tooth must be removed, crowns are often used to restore the tooth. They are also used to attachh bridges, cover implants, prevent a cracked tooth from becoming worse, or an existing filling is in jeopardy of becoming loose or dislocated.

Crowns also serve as aesthetic use, and are applied when a discolored or stained tooth needs to be restored to its natural appearance.

Night Guards
A nightguard is made by a dentist to alleviate signs and symptoms of tooth grinding, which usually occurs during sleep. A thin layer of plastic is molded to fit over the teeth, similar to a mouthguard for sports. This can be worn during the day, or while sleeping.

Nightguards help to protect your teeth and any dental work the patient may have, from wearing down or fracturing.

The nightguard can also hel relieve escess pressure on the jaw point and prevent damage to it.

Scaling and Root Planning
Scaling and root planning eliminates toxins below the gum lines. This procedure is done to remove plaque and tartar from the top of your tooth to the bottom of the pocket. It is typically done when pockets are approximately 4mm or more.

This is the treatment of the interior of the tooth when the nerve has experienced degenerative changes, to provide an environment where the tissues surrounding a tooth's root are free of inflammation.
